How to Destroy Plague Hearts
The first time you encounter a Plague Heart in State of Decay 2 happens early on in the game after you have built your home base. To find Plague Hearts, look for buildings surrounded by a red mist. After hunting down one of these throbbing heaps of flesh and bone, you must try to destroy them to rid the area of its zombie infestation.
You’ll quickly realize that Plague Hearts can’t be destroyed with just anything. Plague Hearts are only vulnerable to fire, which means you’ll need to come prepared if you’re hoping to destroy enough Plague Hearts to eradicate the Blood Plague in State of Decay 2.
Being vulnerable to fire means that you can use any fire-based weaponry to eliminate Plague Hearts. This includes explosives such as Molotov cocktails, grenades, and grenade launchers. When you venture out on a mission to destroy a Plague Heart in State of Decay 2, make sure to bring enough explosives with you to get the job done.
Plague Hearts are essentially the life source for all plague-stricken zombies in the game, which means that zombies will fervently defend Plague Hearts wherever they are located. Once you try to damage a Plague Heart, a vicious horde of zombies will come to its defense and you will have to fight them off.
Destroying Plague Hearts also rids the area of its zombie infestation, which will help maintain the safety of the perimeter while boosting survivor morale, so it’s worth making an effort to take out Plague Hearts whenever possible.
It’s best to bring a group of survivors with you on your Plague Heart mission so that they can focus on the zombie hordes while you lob explosives at the Plague Heart. Better yet, team up with some friends through online co-op so that you can work together on fending off the zombies and destroying Plague Hearts in State of Decay 2.
It’s important to note that with every Plague Heart you destroy, the remaining Plague Hearts will grow stronger. This means that Plague Hearts will become progressively harder to destroy as you eliminate them throughout the game. Be sure to expand your backpack so that you can carry more explosives with you on each Plague Heart mission.
