I bought a disc edition of the original Mount & Blade today, but I can't get it to start. It installed successfully, but no matter how I try to launch it (from autorun on the disc or using multiple types of compatibility modes along with administrative privileges on the .exe), it just runs in the background on the task manager. I've seen a lot of people having issues with the Steam edition, but not anyone offering solutions that can work with the disc edition. Can I play this game on Windows 10? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Running on an Asus K53E laptop with an Intel i5-2450M with Intel HD 3000 graphics and 8 GB of RAM. I think my drivers are up to date, but Asus' website hasn't been updated with Windows 10 drivers for my laptop.

From what you have said you should not be having a hardware problem, and it is most likely a problem caused by your software. May I please ask for your computer's DirectX version before we continue?

How To Check Your DirectX:

Press The "Windows" Button on either your Keyboard or press the "Windows" Button on your computer's taskbar

Type in in the search bar (Ignore "<>")

Select the "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" or Press Enter

An Option Box May Appear Mentioning Something About An Internet Connection, Ignore It And Press "Yes"

The Program will run and the System Info will Appear on the Application. Near The Bottom of the Wall of Text, You Should Be Able To Find Your Computer's Version of directX. Example: "DirectX Version: 12"

The version of directX you are using should be DirectX Version 9 or above. DirectX version 7 does work, but version 9 works much better.

If you are still having problems launching your game you may need to update your version of "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable".

Instructions to check your version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable:

Press The "Windows" Button on either your Keyboard or press the "Windows" Button on your computer's taskbar

Type in in the search box (Ignore "<>")

Select "Programs and Features"

A potentially large list of programs will appear on your screen. Look for "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable" and "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86" in the list of programs.

If you are missing either of these programs you will need to download the programs from The Microsoft website.

By following these steps your problems with launching your CD-ROM version of "Mount and Blade: Warband" should be solved. If you issues are still occurring or you have any more questions or concerns please let me know so we can work together in order you solve your problem.
