If you add more HiColor Magenta, you’ll get a purplish pink or dark magenta. If you add more HiColor Violet, you’ll get a purple with pinkish tones. If you mix equal amounts of both hair dyes, you’ll get a purple with pink undertones.

L’Oréal HiColor hair dyes are before and after in the lives of many of my clients. Especially for those who have dark hair and want to try in fantasy tones without having to bleach.

Believe it or not, these dyes allow you to apply colors such as purples or violets, without bleaching your hair.

Of course, you shouldn’t ask for the impossible. If you want a lavender or pastel pink, you’ll have to bleach your hair.

Wether your hair is dark or light, different HiColor can be mixed to achieve unique, super personal colors.

Are you looking for a purple with a hint of pink? Do you prefer a purplish pink?

If you want to dye your hair in the deep purple or pink range, you’re one step away from making your dream come true.

It’s not about wing it when you mix the hair dyes, or by pouring the amount of the color you like the most into the plastic container.

Instead, you should know exactly what color you are looking for, your target color.

When you know your target color, you can define exactly what portions to mix for each dye.

Let’s look at some possible combinations.

If you want intense magenta colors with violet undertones, you’ll have to mix more magenta and less violet. Ratio?

80% magenta and 20% violet to achieve an intense magenta with purple undertones. 65% magenta and 35% violet to achieve a dark purplish magenta.

If you want to achieve intermediate colors such as pinkish purple or violet magenta, you should mix equal parts of magenta and violet:

55% violet and 45% magenta for violet with magenta undertones. 55% magenta and 45% violet for magenta with violet undertones.
.

If you want to achieve violet colors such as purple / dark purple, you should mix more violet than magenta:

85% violet and 15% magenta for a dark purple color. 70% violet and 30% magenta for a deep purple color.

These L’Oréal hair dyes don’t come in a coloring kit. In other words, you’ll have to buy the magenta and violet hair dyes and the 20-volume developer.

Do you have a 30-volume developer from a previous coloring?

Don’t even think about using it! Because you can completely screw up the coloring process.

The manufacturer clearly states that these dyes are to be used with 20-volume developer. There’s a reason for it..
.

Having said that, you will also need a plastic container to make the mixture, a comb to detangle your hair, gloves, and old towel and clothes; I can assure you that these colors stain everything.

In the plastic container, mix the desired amount of L’Oréal HiColor Violet and Magenta, taking into account the proportions I told you above, and the 20-volume developer.

Once you get a homogeneous mixture, it’s time for the transformation.

Comb your hair and divide it into four sections, two at the front and two at the back. Put on your gloves. Release one of the sections of hair and start applying the hair dye from roots to ends. Leave the mixture on for 40 to 50 minutes. Rinse your hair with plenty of warm water and apply conditioner for 3 to 5 minutes.
.

It never hurts to pamper your hair. Remember that you used peroxide, which is a chemical. Adding moisture is adding health to your hair.

One last recommendation?

Write down somewhere safe the colors proportions you used..

Don’t forget that your hair will grow out in 5 or 6 weeks. The roots will appear, and you’ll need to touch-up the color.

At that point, if you’ve fallen in love with the color you’ve achieved, you’ll have the exact proportions at hand to get the same shade again. Otherwise, if you forgot to write them down, you can always try a new color.

Conclusions

If your hair is dark and you want a unique and personal shade in the range of violet-pink or purple with pink undertones, mix HiColor Violet and Magenta.

Keep in mind that the resulting color will depend on the amount of hair dye of each color. If you add more violet, your new color will tend more towards purple. And if you add more magenta, your new color will tend more to pink.

Now tell me, what new hair color will you dare to defy the universe with?
