Specifically, I'm going to be buying Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance when it comes out in a couple weeks. However, Can You Run It says I'm below minimum requirements for the game, the problem being the CPU. However, I'm wondering if CYRI is always spot-on, because when I put in BioShock Infinite, it says I'm above minimum, but below recommended. However, I'm running it at the highest graphics settings and it runs extremely smooth.

My specs, according to CYRI:

CPU: You Have: AMD Phenom(tm) 9550 Quad-Core Processor

RAM: 6.2 GB

Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series

Sound Card: High Definition Audio Device

Sorry for being such a noob. I'm new to PC gaming, only got this rig a couple months ago.

To be frank; If your ISP isn't a bitch, torrent it. If you like it and can run it, or are willing to play with poor framerate, buy it. Otherwise, uninstall and forget about it.

Seconding this. If they don't give you a demo, make your own.

Can You Run it has always been and always be a complete joke. It's so flawed it's useless. Don't even bother giving these dummies the page hit.

Can You Run It, System Requirements Lab, etc, only bump your spec's against the minimum system requirements specified by the developers. If the developers have put good system requirements on their product, then CYRI will be accurate.

Prettymuch, this. I have a 9550 as well, played some pretty decent games on it, once I got a good video card.

Bioshock Infinite runs a very well-done engine, though, whether anything newer will run on it depends very heavily on the graphics card, ram, and hard drive, as well as how the game is set up. That rig is a server now, and my gaming PC is a FX6300, was definately worth the cash to upgrade.

Honestly, because the game hasn't come out yet, we have no idea how good those minimum specs are. I will say that your phenom is way less powerful than the i5 in the minimum specs. But, we have no idea how good of a port this will be, or if platinum has any idea what they're doing. Either way, do not buy the game yet, wait until it comes out and then ask that question.

i would use that as more of a guideline than a definitive yes or no

CYRI said i could run games on my current current computer on high settings but in real world results it was actually low/medium.

There's better sites out there such as Game Debate that'll be alittle better but the only true way to find out is to buy some games and see if your computer handles it.

i5-3570k - AMD-7970 OC - 8GB RAM

Its just a loose way of seeing what you cant or can run, In real world conditions everything can change.

The CPU isnt as dominant in gaming then say a graphics card or RAM. so theres so area to move around in performance, as long as the CPU is a little under, and not a huge leap below in terms of performance as the requirements, i don't see there being much of an issue if the rest of your PC is up to scratch.

Also, Bioshock doesn't make much use of the CPU in game, as CPU dominant features such as AI in the game isnt as dominant or intensive as I believe the sophisticated CPU intensive free cutting feature is in Metal Gear Rising.

Thanks for the response! Do you think I'd be able to run at all? Are there any ways to mitigate the poor CPU?

Assuming you have windows. Press start and search for dxdiag. Then tell us what you get for ram, CPU and GPU. What you said was rather general. I'm more of an Nvidia/Intel man but I know abut about AMD.

Hey man, I'm new to PC. This computer was given to me, and I'm not even all that familiar with the hardware.
